Redhawks Dominate Missouri-Rolla, 80-43, in Exhibition Finale

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State men's basketball defeated Missouri-Rolla, 80-43, Saturday night at the Show Me Center. Southeast opened the game on a 14-7 run in the first 7:30 and never looked back. Southeast concludes their exhibition season a perfect 2-0 after beating Lincoln University Thursday night.

The Redhawks held a 37-20 halftime advantage. Jaycen Herring led the team with 10 points, including two three-pointers, during the first half. Roderick Pearson scored seven points, making three of his four shots, while Kenard Moore scored six points on two treys during the first 20 minutes.

Aaron Hays led the Miners with seven points on 3-6 shooting in the first half. DeJon Slaughter added six points on 3-6 shooting as well.

Southeast opened the second half on a 7-0 run, highlighted by Jaycen Herring's third three-pointer of the game. The Redhawks increased the lead to as many as 37, with a commanding 78-41 lead with 2:20 remaining in the contest.

Herring finished with a game-high 19 points, making 7-9 shots, including a perfect 3-3 from three-point range. Pearson finished with 11 points. David Johnson led the squad with four assists. Calvin Williams scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Hays led the Miners with 12 points on 5-10 shooting. Slaughter scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Redhawks open the 2007-08 season at Xavier on Saturday, November 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Cincinnati.
