Cape Girardeau, Mo. (November 12, 2001) - Paced by double-double's from juniors Dan Weaver and Tim Scheer, the Indians steamrolled the Dreambuilders 80-69 Monday night in the Show Me Center.

Southeast dominated the first half with a score of 41-25, but the Dreambuilders came back and made it a game early in the second half before a late Southeast rally that capped the win for the Indians. The Dreambuilders outscored the Indians 44-39 in the second half.

This game marked the return of some former Indians as Mike Branson, Amory Sanders and Antonio Short were late additions to the roster for the Dreambuilders. None started, but all got into the game seeing extensive time.

Scheer had a double-double in the first half with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He finished the game with a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds. Weaver had 13 points and 12 rebounds. After going 4-7 from the three point line against UMSL last week, freshman Derek Winans went 0-4 from behind the arc. Winans did, however have 16 points and went 6-7 from the free throw stripe and his backcourt mate Brett Hale had 13 points. Antonio Short led the Dreambuilders in points with 21 for the game.

Head coach Gary Garner said his team is still young and he expects to see them continue to improve throughout the season.

"We're getting better," Garner said. "We played a little better defensively and offensively. We have to take it one day at a time now, because we are playing a lot of young players. This was a confidence builder for us tonight. We needed to win tonight."

Southeast opens up its regular season next Friday November 16 at 7 p.m. against Birmingham Southern at the Show Me Center.
