Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks claimed their second straight victory with a 78-75 decision over California-Riverside in the home opener at the Show Me Center.

The Redhawks, who shot 50% from the floor and 42% from three, built up a seven point lead with just 42-seconds remaining, but UC-Riverside battled back and had a chance to tie the game with four-seconds remaining.

David Johnson put Southeast up 75-68 with a resounding dunk off a fast break, but three-pointers by Justin Bell and Larry Cunningham pulled the Highlanders to within one point at 75-74 with 15-seconds left. Roderick Pearson made two free throws to make it 77-74 but he fouled Bell behind the arc with four-seconds remaining sending Bell to the line to shoot three free throws. He made the first but missed the next two and Southeast held on for the victory.
