Oakland Beats Southeast in Fifth Place Game At Las Vegas Invitational

Las Vegas, Nev. - Oakland University of Michigan shot 67% from the floor in the second half on the way to an 81-63 win over Southeast Missouri in the fifth place game of the Las Vegas Invitational Tournament. Oakland took advantage of cold shooting by the Redhawks to build up a 36-23 halftime lead. In the first half, Southeast shot only 28% from the floor and was 0-10 from three. In the second half, the Redhawks pulled within nine points several times, but could never get closer. Calvin Williams, named to the all-tournament team, led Southeast with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Jaycen Herring also had 17 points while Kenard Moore had 15 and LaMont Russel 10. Oakland, 3-4, was led by Erik Kingas with 18 points including 6-11 from three. Johnathon Jones had 13, Drew Maynard 11 and Blake Cushingberry 10. Southeast will open Ohio Valley Conference play on Thursday night, hosting Austin Peay in a 7:45 p.m. game at the Show Me Center. |
