Men's Hoops Picks Up First Win With 75-68 Victory Over North Alabama Tim Scheer scores a career-high 23 points
Cape Girardeau, Mo. (December 8, 2001) - Behind another stellar effort off the bench from Tim Scheer, the Southeast Missouri Indians Basketball team recorded its first win of the season against Division II opponent North Alabama 75-68. North Alabama held the Indians under 80 points for the sixth consecutive game. Southeast, (1-5) was up by a bucket at the half as they shot 41 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the 3-point arc for the half, limiting North Alabama, (2-6) to 46 percent from the field and 20 percent from behind the arc. The second-half saw the Indians shoot lights-out from the field at 58 percent, while holding UNA to 35 percent. Scheer set another career record for points with 23 and eight rebounds hitting 8-16 from the field, and 5-6 from the charity stripe as he also pulled in 2-6 from the three point arc. Juniors Drew DeMond had 15 points and seven rebounds and Demetrius King had 14 points and four assists. Ricky Duff led the Lions scoring attack as he recorded 18 points going 6-16 from the field. Phillip Perre and Darren Price both had 10 points Next up for the Indians will be non-conference away game at Saint Louis University on Saturday December 15 at 2:20 p.m. |
