Cape Girardeau, Mo. (December 17, 2001) - Southeast Missouri shot over 50 percent from the field for the second-straight game, but came away with the same result as they were handed a 12-point loss by Mississippi Valley State, Monday at the Show Me Center, 82-70.

Southeast (1-7) was down by 12 points at the half, and managed to spur a second-half rally to pull within five points twice. The Indians were out-rebounded 40-30 in the game and they could never recover as they lost their seventh game. Mississippi Valley (4-3) was all over the boards as they had two individuals with 10 and nine rebounds each.

Southeast was led in scoring by freshman guard Derek Winans who had 21 points and seven rebounds. Junior forward Tim Scheer had 19 points and six rebounds and sophomore Demarcus Hence had a career-high 15 points and five rebounds.

MVSU had six players in double-figures as Michael Archie had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Willie Neal had 14 points and 9 rebounds. D'Jamel Jackson and Attarrius Norwood both had 13 points while Kevin Conley and Ashley Robinson recorded 12 each.

Southeast has a week and a half off for the holidays and next plays host to Division II Lincoln University out of Jefferson City on December 29, at 1 p.m. in the Show Me Center.
