Indians Capture Sun Classic Consolation Game Michael Stokes records double-double in 72-63 win over Jackson State.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Michael Stokes scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Southeast Missouri State to a 72-63 victory over the Jackson State in the consolation game of the Sierra Providence Sun Classic Basketball Tournament on Thursday night. Stokes hit three of his five 3-point attempts and handed out four assists for the Indians (8-3). Terry Rogers had 14 points and seven rebounds and Joel Shelton added 12 points. The Indians shot 52-percent from the field in the second half after hitting just 30 percent in the first half. Jackson State (0-12) was led by Richard Bradley's 17 points and game-high 14 rebounds. Raymond Appleberry and Roy Dixon each scored 11 points for the Tigers, and Eric Large added six assists. The Indians dominated at the free throw line, hitting 23-of-36, while Jackson State went 12-of-18. Jackson State got off to a 12-3 lead in the game's first five minutes, but Southeast Missouri rallied with a 22-5 run to take a 25-17 lead with 7:02 left in the half. The Tigers then outscored the Indians 17-5 to take a 34-30 halftime lead.
