Southeast Seeks To End Three Game Skid on Saturday at Samford
Jan. 30, 2004 Birmingham, Ala. - Southeast Missouri State's men's basketball team will try to end a three game Ohio Valley Conference losing streak when the Indians meet Samford on Saturday, 2 p.m., in Birmingham. The three straight losses have dropped Southeast's record to 9-9 overall and 2-5 in the OVC. Samford is also 9-9 overall but 4-3 and tied for third place in the OVC. "We are struggling right now and did not play well in our loss at Jacksonville State on Thursday night," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "It is tough to win on the road and we have another tough game Saturday. Samford is a good basketball team, but we have to find a way to win. Despite our three straight losses, we are just two games out of third place in the league with three straight home games coming up at the Show Me Center. We need to take care of the basketball and do a better job of rebounding."
Following Saturday's game at Samford, Southeast returns to the Show Me Center for "Rivals Week" facing Tennessee-Martin on Thursday night, Feb. 5, and Murray State on Saturday, Feb. 7. The UTM game begins at 7:30 p.m. while the Murray State game will begin at 2 p.m. and will be televised throughout the southern United States on Fox Sports Net South.
