CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (January 25, 2001) - Behind the hot hand of senior guard Amory Sanders (Memphis, Tenn.) the Southeast Missouri State men's basketball team is currently ranked 14th nationally in 3-point field goal percentage at 40%.

The Indians (13-7, 4-4 OVC), who currently rank second the in Ohio Valley Conference in team three-point percentage, are on a three-game winning streak and will host pre-season OVC favorite Austin Peay (14-6, 5-3) Thursday night at the Show Me Center. The game will be televised regionally on Fox Sports South starting at 7:00 p.m. CST. Entering the game both teams are battling for fourth place in the OVC. In the earlier meeting this season, the Governors got the best of Southeast, defeating the Indians 88-60 in Clarksville.

Sanders has been on fire all season and is currently 41-74 from long range for 55.4%. He had been ranked second nationally for several weeks, but he has now climbed to the top of the three-point charts. He has had several extraordinary games this season, with the highlight being a 7-10 three-point shooting performance in a 78-53 win over Robert Morris in November. In that game he scored 25 points in only 24 minutes of play. Sanders was also 5-5 from three-point range against Tennessee State and 5-7 against Morris Brown. He was hit at least three three-pointers in a game six times this season and has only failed to connect from long range in just one game this season.

Sanders, a business management major, attended Bartlett High School in Memphis where he was teammates with another current Southeast player, Daniel Weaver.
