THE TEAMS: Southeast Missouri is 9-14 overall and 4-7 in the OVC after losing to Eastern Kentucky 79-75 Saturday night. The Indians have wins over Central Methodist, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Oakland City, Missouri-Kansas City, Southwest Missouri, Eastern Kentucky, Murray State, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech. The losses have been to Arkansas State, Indiana State, Tulane, Southern Illinois, Arkansas-Little Rock, Creighton, Eastern Illinois (2), Morehead State (2), Tennessee-Martin, Western Illinois, Austin Peay and Eastern Kentucky. Tennessee-Martin is 12-10 overall and 5-6 in the OVC after losing at Tennessee Tech, 87-77 on Saturday night.

Murray State is 12-9 overall and 5-5 in the OVC. The Racers, who have lost two straight, host Eastern Illinois on Thursday night.

THE COACHES: Gary Garner is 91-77 in his sixth season at Southeast and is 338-241 in his 20th season as a collegiate head coach.

Bret Campbell is 47-61 in his fifth year at UTM. Tevester Anderson is 98-49 in his sixth year at Murray State.

THE SERIES: Southeast leads the UTM series 33-16 while Murray State holds a 32-14 advantage.

EARLIER GAMES: Tennessee-Martin never led during regulation play, but beat the Indians in overtime 88-80 on Jan. 11 at the Show Me Center. Damarcus Hence led Southeast with 21 points while Joey Walker led five Skyhawks in double figures with 22. Southeast beat Murray State 78-68 at the Show Me Center on Jan. 13. Tim Scheer led Southeast scorers with 17 while James Singleston had 22 points for Murray State.

SOUTHEAST NOTES Southeast in OVC Stats: Southeast leads the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.398), assists (18.57) and assist/turnover ratio (1.33). Individual OVC leaders include Brandon Griffin in rebounding (10.7 and offensive rebounds (4.0)), Tim Scheer in 3-point field goal percentage and Kevin Roberts in assists (6.18) and assist/turnover ratio (3.49).

Griffin Is OVC Newcomer of the Week: Junior college transfer Brandon Griffin, has been slected as the OVC Newcomer of the Week for the fourth time .In three games last week, Griffin averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game. He has 11 double-doubles this season, is the leading rebounder in the OVC with an average of 10.7 boards per game which ranks him ninth nationally. He leads the OVC in offensive rebounding with 4.0 per game. Griffin is averaging a double-double with 12.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game and has recorded double-doubles in his last four games.

Griffin was the leading rebounder in the University Hoops Classic and was named to the all-tournament team. He had 33 rebounds in the three tournament games. Against nationally ranked Creighton, Griffin had 9 points, 9 assists and 13 rebounds. He has double figure rebounding in 16 of 23 games played.

Hale Tops OVC Free Throw Shooters: Sophomore guard Brett is 50-53 from the free throw line this season for .943, tops in the OVC. He has hit his last 22 free throws in a row. In his two seasons at Southeast, Hale is 86-93 from the line for a career percentage of .925. Hale suffered a hip injury in the Eastern Kentucky game and played only 4-minutes in the second half. He is probable for the UTM game.

Scheer First In OVC 3-Point %: Senior Tim Scheer is first in the OVC in 3-point field goal percentage with 36-79 for .456. He used a career high 32 points against Tennessee State to go over 800 points scored for his career. After 86 games at Southeast, he has 880 career points. This season, Scheer is the Indians' second leading scorer with 13.6 points per game.

Winans Ranked in Six OVC Stat Categories: Derek Winans, last season's OVC Freshman of the Year, is ranked in the OVC's top 10 in six different statistical categories. In the latest OVC stats, Winans ranks fifth in assist/turnover ratio (1.6), ninth in scoring (15.3), sixth in assists (3.9), third in 3-point field goal percentage (.415), sixth in 3-point field goals made (2.35) and ninth in free throw percentage (.757). Winans leads the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game and is second in assists with 3.7 per game. He had a double-double vs. SMS with career high 10 assists and 17 points. Winans had a career high 33 points in the loss at Western Illinois. He was 14-19 from the floor and 5-9 from three. A 4.0 student, Winans is a two-time OVC Medal of Honor winner.

Hence Bounces Back: Junior Damarcus Hence who has been slowed by injuries and illness, is slowly returning to full strength. He played only eight-minutes in the loss at Western Illinois because of an intestinal problem that sent him to the hospital on Feb. 17. He missed practice all the previous week after having two teeth removed, but came off the bench to score 22 points and pull down six rebounds against UTM He was 10-15 from the field and 2-2 from the line. Hence again came off the bench against Murray State and tallied 15 points and three rebounds. Hence scored a career high 25 points at UMKC. He currently averages 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Hence is the second leading rebounder for the Indians.

King Suffers Knee Injury: Demetrius King, who had been leading the OVC in 3-point field goal percentage, suffered a knee injury in the Morehead State game and was forced to miss the Tennessee-Martin and Murray State games. Since returning on a limited basis, King has not made a three. On the season he is shooting .375 from three while averaging 5.3 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

Grapperhaus Contributes: True freshman Cole Grapperhaus had a career high six points and seven rebounds vs. Tennessee State. He scored five key points in just three-minutes played in the win over Murray State He was 2-2 from the field and 1-1 from the line.. On the season, Grapperhaus has played in 15 games averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Crader Sidelined With Bad Back: Sophomore Adam Crader, 6-11, who came off the bench to score a career high seven points at Morehead State, is probable for this week's games after back spasms that forced him to miss the last three games. Crader averages 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

Golson Will Seek Medical Redshirt: Junior college transfer Reggie Golson will seek a medical redshirt after appearing in only one game this season. He saw his first and only playing time in the win over Oakland City. He scored 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds in just 14-minutes playing time. Golon was 5-9 from the field. Golson, who has been recovering from minor knee surgery in September, has not played since that game and will seek a medical redshirt that will leave him with two years of eligibility remaining beginning next season.

At The Show Me Center: Southeast is 176-64 (.736) in games played at the Show Me Center. This season, the Indians are 6-5 at the SMC. Gary Garner Radio Show: Gary Garner has a live radio show on KGIR, 1220 AM, each Wednesday at 6 p.m. The show is hosted by Erik Sean and originates from Show Me's Restaurant in Cape Girardeau.

Murray State Game On WPSD-TV: The Southeast game at Murray State on Saturday will be televised live by WPSD-TV of Paducah. Game time will be 7 p.m. The Southeast and Murray State women will play at 4 p.m.

SID Streak: Southeast SID Ron Hines has worked 657 consecutive basketball games at Southeast. The streak is the longest in Division I basketball. Hines has not missed a game since 1980.

Next Game: Following the games at Tennessee-Martin and at Murray State, Southeast will return to the Show Me Center for games against Western Illinois on Feb. 18 and Austin Peay on Feb. 22.
