Southeast Men's Basketball Player Johnny Hill Declared Ineligible

Feb. 19, 2008

By Corey Miggins, Assistant Sports Information Director

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - As a result of information contained in a story in the Feb. 17th edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Southeast Missouri State Director of Athletics Don Kaverman has announced that sophomore Johnny Hill (St. Louis, Mo./Vashon) will be declared ineligible to compete for the Redhawks until the situation has been reviewed.

Kaverman stated the NCAA has been consulted and research is being conducted regarding the information in the Post-Dispatch story.

"This situation has come to our attention and we have determined that this is the best course of action for both the student-athlete and the university until additional facts are known," Kaverman added.

Hill, a 6-4 guard/forward, has appeared in 51 career games as a reserve for Southeast in addition to averaging 2.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in his collegiate career. In 24 games this season, he is averaging 1.7 points and 2.1 rebounds a game.

Southeast travels to Ypsilanti, Mich., this Saturday (Feb. 23) for an ESPNU BracketBusters game against Eastern Michigan with a start time of 3 p.m.
