Roy Booker Named Second Team All-OVC

March 2, 2006

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State senior Roy Booker, who led the Redhawks in scoring with 22 points per game, tops in the OVC and 15th nationally in NCAA Division I, has been named second team all-OVC and was also named to the All-Newcomer team.

The 22 points per game was the highest seasonal average for a Redhawks player since Jewell Crawford averaged 22.4 points per game in 1983-84. Booker had a career high 33 points in the Jan. 14 loss to Austin Peay and came back with 27 at Tennessee State and 30 points at Tennessee Tech.

He had his first career double-double at Nebraska with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Booker scored 26 points against nationally ranked Illinois.

Booker led the Redhawks in scoring in 24 of 27 games played. He was in double figures for every game of his Southeast career.

In the first game of career at Southeast Missouri State, Booker came up with the game winner when he hit a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to give the Redhawks a 59-56 win over Truman State.
