Southeast Players Lead OVC Basketball in Four Categories
March 27, 2003 CAPE GIRARDEAU - The final Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball statistics reveal that Southeast Missouri State University players led the league in four statistical categories. Sophomore point guard Kevin Roberts led the OVC in assists and assist/turnover ratio. Roberts had 179 assists and only 57 turnovers for a 3.14 ratio. The 179 assists is the second highest total in Southeast school history. Roberts also tied the school and Show Me Center record for assists in a game with 13 against Morehead State. Sophomore guard Brett Hale led the OVC in free throw shooting. He hit 64-70 free throws for .914. Hale, who led the team in scoring in OVC games only with an average of 16.1 points per game, hit 44-48 free throws in league play. Junior center Brandon Griffin led the OVC in offensive rebounds with 117 and ranked second in overall rebounding with a school record 314 rebounds. Sophomore guard Derek Winans ranked in the OVC top 10 in six different statistical categories. He was 10th in scoring (15.4) and free throw percentage (.776), fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (.413) and 3-point field goals per game (2.37), ninth in assists (3.63) and fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.68). |
