April 18, 2007

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University basketball coach Scott Edgar has announced that two junior college players have signed national letters of intent to attend Southeast.

The new signees include Kenard Moore, 5-11 guard from Marshalltown CC and Jaycen Herring, 6-5 perimeter player from Palm Beach CC.

"We are excited to add two junior college players who should be able to come in and contribute immediately," Edgar said. "Herring is a very versatile perimeter player who will be a solid addition to our program. He is originally from Memphis and so he knows the Ohio Valley Conference and he has the experience of playing Division I basketball after spending his freshman season at Tennessee-Chattanooga.

"Moore is an excellent 3-point shooter who made 119 treys last season. He should be able to come in and fill the void left by Terrick Willoughby who was the top 3-point shooter in the OVC during his senior season."

Herring, a graduate of Bartlett High School in Memphis, averaged 14 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last season at Palm Beach. He shot 52% from the field, 50% from three and 76% from the free throw line. As a freshman at Tennessee-Chattanooga, Herring played in 29 games, averaging 3.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Moore, originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, averaged 17.8 points per game last season at Marshalltown. He shot 45% from the field, 40% from three and 76% from the line. Moore made 119 of 301 3-pointers and was selected first team all-Region 11.

Herring and Moore join freshman Will Bogan, 6-10, who signed earlier with the Redhawks.
