CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University basketball coach Gary Garner has announced that Reggie Golson has signed a national letter of intent to attend Southeast in the fall of 2002.

Golson, 6-7, 195, will be a transfer from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas where he averaged 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He shot 53% from the field and 67% from the line for a Hutchinson team that was 22-8.

Golson was a junior college teammate of Dainmon Gonner, 6-7, 230, who signed with Southeast on April 10.

"We're extremely happy to have Golson signed," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "He is a tremendous athlete who is a really good offensive rebounder. He can go out on the floor and shoot the three and he can score inside."

A graduate of Blue Valley Northwest High School in Kansas City, Kansas where he averaged 18 points and nine rebounds per game while winning all-state honors, Golson is the brother of former UMKC basketball player Marcus Golson.

Golson was also recruited by Minnesota, North Carolina-Wilmington, Long Beach State, Indiana State and Southwest Missouri.

Gonner and Golson join Brandon Griffin, 6-8, 225, and Cole Grapperhaus, 6-7, 210, as new signees for the Southeast basketball program.

"I think we will look back and see that this is a very good recruiting class," Garner said. "We have added size, athleticism and rebounding which should make us a much better basketball team."
