Basketball Signs Junior College Guard

May 6, 2005

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Eric Burtin, 6-4 guard, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Southeast Missouri State in the fall.

Burtin, a graduate of Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, played the last two seasons at Iowa Central Community College. Last season, Burtin guided his team to a record of 21-9 while averaging 12.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

"We are very happy to be able to sign Eric Burtin," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "He is a very athletic, big guard who is a complete basketball player. He can play the 2-position or the point and really takes pride in his defense. Burtin is the type of player you win with."

Burtin is the fifth player to sign for next season. He joins 6-4 David Johnson, 6-8 Andrais Thornton, 6-6 John Chappell and 6-4 Eric Jones. All but Jones are junior college transfers.
