Maxwell Suffers Knee Injury

May 8, 2007

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University basketball coach Scott Edgar has announced that 6-6 JaJuan Maxwell suffered a knee injury during an organized spring drill and will be examined by doctors in Kansas City as soon as he returns home after completing final exams.

Maxwell, from Raytown, Mo., a Kansas City suburb, played in 30 games as a true freshman last season averaging 5.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

"JaJuan will have surgery if the examination determines that surgery is needed," Edgar said. "He will be able to rest and recuperate at his home in Raytown before he returns to campus. Hopefully he will be ready to go when we start practice in the fall."
