Rosser Hired as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
May 13, 2009
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University basketball coach Dickey Nutt has added Jamie Rosser to his first coaching staff at Southeast. Rosser, who played for Nutt when he was the head coach at Arkansas State, has been the head girls basketball coach at Overton High School in Memphis, Tenn. Last season he guided Overton to a District championship, City Runner-up and Region Runner-up. Rosser won Coach of the Year honors in 2008 and 2009. He had been hired to coach both the boys and girls teams next season at Overton. "I am thrilled to have Jamie Rosser join our coaching staff," Nutt said. "Jamie adds a lot to our staff. He is an outstanding coach on the floor and he has strong ties to the city of Memphis. Jamie has a special talent of being able to communicate with young people which makes him an outstanding coach and an even better recruiter. "The fact that he played for me at Arkansas State makes his addition very special for me. I knew when he was my point guard that he was going to make a great coach and now we have him on our staff at Southeast." A graduate of Arkansas State who is working on a Master's in Education from Grand Canyon University, Rosser also coached the Memphis Magic AAU team for 16 and 17 year old players. Last season the Magic finished 17-7. A starting point guard at Overton High School, Rosser was ranked the number one JUCO point guard in the nation at Northwest Community College before transferring to Arkansas State. He played one season of professional basketball in Lithuania. "I have high expectations and I'm anxious to get to work," Rosser said. "This is a great opportunity for me to do well as a coach and working with Coach Nutt who coached me in college will be tremendous." |
