Nutt Signs One-Year Contract Extension
May 13, 2011
By Jeff Honza CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri Director of Athletics John Shafer announced Friday that head men's basketball coach Dickey Nutt signed a one-year contract extension through the 2013-14 season. Nutt led Southeast to 17 wins in his first two seasons, and his program has steadily improved along the way. "I appreciate the confidence shown by the administration for our basketball program and what we're doing," said Nutt. "I look forward to many successes in the coming years." Last year, the Redhawks made their first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament appearance since 2006-07. Southeast, which was led by Second-Team All-Conference forward Leon Powell, was one of only three league teams to knock off OVC regular-season champion Murray State. "We felt that Dickey has made great strides with the men's basketball program at Southeast Missouri," said Shafer. "I want to thank Dr. Dobbins and the Board of Regents for approving our recommendation." Nutt was hired as Southeast's head coach on March 12, 2009. All other terms and conditions of his contract will remain the same. |
