Dickey Nutt Completes Coaching Staff
May 26, 2009
CapeGirardeau, Mo. - New Southeast Missouri State University basketball coach Dickey Nutt has completed his Redhawks coaching staff with the hiring of former Moberly Area Community College coach Kyle Gerdeman. Gerdeman, a 1998 graduate of Southeast, served the last three years as head coach at Moberly after serving from 2004-2006 as an assistant at Mineral Area College. He was an assistant at Moberly from 2001-2003 and also served as coach at East Central College from 1998-2001. "I am excited to be able to announce that Kyle Gerdeman has accepted our offer to complete our first coaching staff at Southeast," Nutt said. "Kyle is a native of Missouri, having been born and raised in St. Louis, and he has great ties to the high school and junior college coaches in the state of Missouri. I have followed his progress as a coach and his experience as a junior college head coach will be important to our program. "Having served as a coach at Moberly, Mineral Area and East Central in Missouri, Kyle comes highly recommended," Nutt continued. "He is a Southeast graduate and has great pride in our University. I talked to a lot of coaches during the search process and after talking with Kyle, I knew he gives us what we are looking for at Southeast. I can't stress enough his connections to high school, junior college and AAU coaches in the state of Missouri." Gerdeman is happy to be returning to Southeast and the move to Division I basketball. "I'm excited to be making the move to Division I and it is special that I will be returning to Southeast Missouri State," he said. "I have 11 years coaching experience in junior college, but my goal was always to coach at the Division I level. I've known Coach Nutt for a number of years and respect his approach to the game. We will have three young and hungry assistant coaches anxious to return Southeast basketball to the top of the OVC." Gerdeman joins Jamie Rosser and Jeremy Case as assistants on Nutt's staff. "I feel our staff has the experience, character, and background on different levels that our fans will appreciate," Nutt said. "These guys are hungry to make us as good as we can possibly be." |
