Southeast Signs Mississippi Prep Basketball Star
June 26, 2003 Cape Girardeau, Mo. - - Coach Gary Garner of Southeast Missouri State University has announced that Terrick Willoughby of Biloxi High School in Biloxi, Miss., has accepted a basketball scholarship to attend Southeast in the fall. Willoughby, ranked as one of the top 10 high school players in Mississippi by several scouting services, originally signed with Murray State last fall during the early singing period, but when there was a coaching change at Murray, Willoughby asked for and received his release from the national letter of intent. "Terrick is a great athlete who can play the three or two position," Garner said. "He is a strong kid who can really jump. He has good ball handling skills and can shoot the ball." Last season at Biloxi High School, Willoughby, 6-4, 180, averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game while leading his team to a record of 26-7. He was all-conference, all-coast and named to the Dandy Dozen, considered the top 12 high school players in Mississippi. As a junior, Willoughby averaged 19.3 points per game when his team was 22-7. He was a starter as a sophomore when Biloxi was 28-10 and won the state championship. |
