SOUTHEAST BASKETBALL AND TRACK TEAMS BENEFIT FROM BAR-B-QUE

Aug. 17, 2003

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State University men's basketball and men's and women's track teams will benefit from a Bar-B-Que at Country Mart in Jackson on Friday and Saturday, August 22 and 23.

Bar-B-Que items will include smoked pork ribs, whole chicken, whole bone-in Boston Butt, thick cut pork steak, boneless sliced butt roast, Johnsoville Brats, smoked turkey drumsticks and BBQ pork sandwiches.

The sandwiches are just 99 cents each with ice-cold canned sodas for 25 cents each. A full side of smoke pork ribs are only $9.99 each, whole chickens $2.99 each and thick cut pork steaks for just $1.99 each.

The Southeast men's basketball and men's and women's track teams all benefit from the Bar-B-Que.

"This is a great opportunity for the basketball program to earn money that will help us make our program better," said Coach Gary Garner, who along with his coaching staff and the track coaching staff will prepare the meat that will be cooked by Greg Brune, director of athletic development. "I hope Southeast basketball fans will help us out by purchasing some great tasting Bar-B-Que."

The menu items are available for pre-order by calling the basketball office at 651-5030. The Bar-B-Que, on a parking lot adjacent to Country Mart in Jackson, will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

"This is a great event for our track teams," said track coach Joey Haines. "The proceeds from this Bar-B-Que mean that our teams will travel by bus to a couple of meets instead of going by van. It is great Bar-B-Que at excellent prices and helps both the track and basketball programs. Everyone is a winner."
