SOUTHEAST BASKETBALL SCHEDULE INCLUDES 15 HOME GAMES
Aug. 31, 2006
2006-07 Southeast Missouri State Men's Basketball Schedule
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - New Southeast Missouri State University basketball coach Scott Edgar promises "Fast and Furious" action when the Redhawks face a very challenging schedule in 2006-2007. The schedule includes games against schools from the Big 10, Big 12, Southeastern and Missouri Valley Conferences. The Redhawks will play 15 games at the Show Me Center including two exhibition games beginning with Westminster on Nov. 2 and perennial Division II power Kentucky Wesleyan on Nov. 3. The regular season opener will be at Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Ark., where the Redhawks will face the Arkansas Razorbacks. Southeast will also challenge Iowa State, Purdue and Evansville in non-conference road games. IPFW will play at the Show Me Center on Nov. 29. Following the game at Arkansas, Southeast will travel to Fairbanks, Alaska for the Top of the World Classic. The Redhawks opening tournament foe will be the Drake Bulldogs of the Missouri Valley Conference. The second game will be against either Utah State or Centenary with a final game against Rhode Island, Troy, Weber State or Alaska-Fairbanks. California-Riverside will play at Southeast on Nov. 24 in a return game from last year's Bracket Buster and the Redhawks will host this year's Bracket Buster game on Feb. 17 against an opponent to be selected later. The Redhawks open Ohio Valley Conference action on Saturday, Dec. 2, hosting Tennessee-Martin at the Show Me Center. "We have a very challenging schedule that should get us ready for the OVC," Edgar said. "Road games at places like Arkansas, Iowa State and Purdue should prepare our players for tough games on the road. Hopefully, by the time we open OVC play on Dec. 2 against Tennessee-Martin we will be prepared and have created enough excitement that we can have our first sell-out of the season at the Show Me Center." All OVC dates and times are subject to change depending on television contracts. |
