Nyah Jones Playing for Collegiate All-Star Team in Israel Southeast standout gaining valuable experience for the upcoming season.
Aug. 9, 2000 CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Nyah Jones, who will be a senior center on the Southeast Missouri State University basketball team, is playing with a collegiate all-star team that is currently playing a schedule of 10 games in Israel. Jones, who is from Montreal, Canada, flew directly from Montreal to Tel Aviv where he joined the Sports Reach team on Saturday. "This is a great opportunity for Nyah to get some additional game experience playing against the top teams in Israel," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "Nyah is one of the keys to our success this season and the added game experience should really be a benefit for him. I hope he has a good experience and comes back to school ready to play." Jones, 6-11, played in all 31 Southeast games last season as the Indians gained a co-championship in the Ohio Valley Conference regular season, won the OVC tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament. He averaged 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while playing only 16-minutes per game. |
