First Annual Red/Black Game Set for October 28 Game is first chance to get a look at the 2000-2001 Indian and Otahkian basketball teams.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (October 11, 2000) - The Southeast Missouri State Men's Basketball team, fresh off a season that included an OVC Tournament Championship and a NCAA appearance, and the Otahkian Women's Basketball team will hold the first annual Red vs. Black game on Saturday, October 28, at 1:00 p.m. in the Show-Me Center. This season, the Red/Black game takes the place of the annual Midnight Madness celebration, which falls during Southeast's Fall break this year. Since students, cheerleaders and the band would not be on campus, it was necessary to push the event back two weeks. This season's Red/Black game will feature fan contests with the chance to win $10,000, Otahkian and Indian 3-point contests, a dunk contest, a full men's scrimmage, performances by the Southeast Cheerleaders and Sundancers and free t-shirts and posters to the first 500 fans in attendance. The event is free to the public. The Show-Me Center doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and there will be no parking fee. The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end in time for fans to take part in the football tailgating activities that begin at 3:00 p.m. Sponsors of the Red/Black game are Zimmer Radio Group, Horizon's Screen Printing, BA Promotions, Moll Printing, Southwestern Bell, Cash Book Journal, Show Me's and Union Planter's Bank. |
