Oct. 26, 2006 Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Newcomers stood out in the Southeast Missouri State Red vs. White scrimmage on Wednesday at the Show Me Center. Freshman Johnny Hill led the way with 25 points while Bradley transfer Michael Rembert had 24 points and 13 rebounds. The Red team won 86-80 with Hill, who was 6-7 from three, led the way. Oklahoma Transfer Brandon Foust added 20 points and six rebounds while David Johnson had 13 points and Dionte Perry, 10. The White team was led by Rembert and freshman Marcus Rhodes who had 21 points including 3-5 from three. Veteran Terrick Willoughby had 21 points. "Overall I was pleased," said new Southeast coach Scott Edgar. "We have worked very hard in our opening practices on transisition offense and I thought we did a good job of getting the ball down the floor. We will be working more on defense in our upcoming practices. I think we have the talent and depth to have a good basketball team." Southeast will open exhibition play on Thursday, Nov. 2, hosting Westminster in a 7:30 p.m. game at the Show Me Center. The Redhawks will host perennial Division II power Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. |
