CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (November 3, 2000) - Antonio Short, a senior guard on the Southeast Missouri State University men's basketball team, has been suspended from competition for three games and will not play in the Indians' season opener Saturday, November 4th against Team Reebok of St. Louis.

Announcement of the suspension was made today by Indian Coach Gary Garner, who indicated Short was suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules.

During the suspension, Short will be permitted to practice with the team but may not participate in games.

Garner said that under University policy and federal statutes, details of disciplinary action taken against students, including the causes of such action, may not be disclosed.

Short, a 6-2 guard from Louisville, Kentucky, played two seasons at Moberly Community College and was selected as a second team NJCAA All-American before coming to Southeast. Last season, he started 22 games, averaging 8.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
