THE TEAMS: Southeast Missouri was 11-19 overall and 5-11 in the OVC last season. The Indians are picked to finish fourth in the OVC in the preseason poll of league coaches and sports information directors.

Truman State was 7-20 overall and 3-15 in the MIAA last season.

THE COACHES: Gary Garner is 93-82 in six seasons at Southeast and is 340-246 in 20 years as a collegiate head coach. Exhibition games do not count on a coaches record. Garner is 10-2 in exhibition game at Southeast.

Jack Schrader is 83-110 in seven years as head coach at Truman State.

THE SERIES: Southeast leads the series 82-62 and is 1-0 vs. Truman State is exhibition play.

SOUTHEAST NOTES

EXHIBITION OPENER: Thursday night's game with Truman State will be the first of two exhibition games for Southeast. The Indians will face another former MIAA foe, Missouri-Rolla, on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Truman State beat a Bulldog Alumni team 80-66 last Saturday night.

SOUTHEAST PICKED 4TH IN OVC: A preseason poll of league coaches and sports information directors, picked Southeast to finish fourth in the OVC behind Austin Peay, Morehead State and Murray State.

OVC STAT LEADERS RETURN: Junior guards Brett Hale and Kevin Roberts both led the OVC in statistical categories last season. Hale led the league in free throw percentage with 64-70 for .914.

Roberts led the league in assists with 179 and in assist/turnover ratio with 3.1. The 179 assists was the second highest single season market Southeast rnaking him just behind school record holder Dwayne Rutherford who had 200 assists during the 1998-99 season. Roberts tied the team record for assists in a game with 13 vs. Morehead State on Feb. 6 at the Show Me Center.

INJURIES: Brett Hale (knee) and Reggie Golson (ankle) both missed several practices and are questionable for the exhibition opener.

Norman Prather sprained an ankle on Sunday and is also questionable.

If Hale and Golson are ready to play on Thursday, the starting lineup could change.
