THE TEAMS: The Redhawks were 2-0 in exhibition play after beating Lincoln 102-96 and Missouri-Rolla, 80-63. Southeast Missouri State was 11-20 overall and 9-11 in the in the Ohio Valley Conference last season. The Redhawks have been picked to finish fifth in the OVC this season. Xavier is picked to win the Atlantic 10 Conference title again this season after winning the regular season title last season. The Musketeers were 25-9 last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament where they lost to Ohio State 78-71 in overtime. The Musketeers have an exhibition game with Georgetown College on Tuesday.

THE COACHES: Scott Edgar is in his second season as head coach at Southeast after previous head coaching stints at Murray State and Duquesne. His collegiate record is 119-115 in eight years as a head coach. Edgar was 1-5 vs. Xavier when he was head coach at Duquesne. His win came in Cincinnati when the Dukes won 78-70 on Jan. 25, 1997. Sean Miller is 63-32 in three years as head coach at Xavier.

THE SERIES: Xavier leads the series 1-0 with a 64-49 win during the 1946-47 season.

CHICAGO INVITATIONAL CHALLENGE: The Southeast vs. Xavier game is an opening round game in the Chicago Invitational Challenge. The Redhawks play at Xavier and at Illinois State before playing two games in the Chicago suburb of Hoffman Estates on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Redhawks will face Coppin State at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 23 and will play either Longwood or North Carolina-Wilmington at either 12-noon or 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 24. Xavier hosts Coppin State on Nov. 20 before playing Kent State at the Sears Centre on Nov. 23 and either Indiana or Illinois St. on Nov. 24.

OKLAHOMA CONNECTION: The Redhawks Brandon Foust and the Musketeers All-America candidate Drew Lavender were teammates at Oklahoma during the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons and were also teammates at Brookhaven High School in Columbus, Ohio. Foust was the Redhawks leading scorer last season and is a preseason all-OVC choice this season. Lavender, 5-7 point guard, is on a pair of prestigious national watch lists. He is on the 50-member Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List and is a candidate for the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award which goes annually to the top collegiate senior 6-0 or shorter. Lavender is a preseason all-Atlantic 10 selection.

REDHAWKS 2-0 IN EXHIBITIONS: Southeast beat Missouri-Rolla 80-63 on Saturday night to end a 2-0 exhibition season. The Redhawks came from behind to beat a hot shooting Lincoln team, 102-96, in the exhibition opener on Thursday night. Jaycen Herring led five Redhawks in double figures with 22 points while freshman Will Bogan added 20 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Herring had 19 points and six rebounds vs. Missouri-Rolla while sophomore guard Rod Pearson had 11 points. Senior David Johnson had a team-high four assists and added seven rebounds.

SEASON OPENERS: Since moving to Division I in 1991, Southeast is 9-6 in season openers but the Redhawks are 0-5 when opening on the road. Last season, Southeast lost at Arkansas, 92-52.

HERRING LEADS SCORERS: Junior college transfer Jaycen Herring led the Redhawks in both exhibition games. The 6-5 transfer from Palm Beach CC who played his freshman season at Tennessee-Chattanooga, Herring averaged 20.5 points per game in the two games.

BOGAN LEADS REBOUNDERS: Freshman Will Bogan, 6-10, 300, averaged 10.5 rebounds per game in the exhibition games. Bogan had 20 points and 17 rebounds vs. Lincoln and seven points and four rebounds vs. Missouri-Rolla.

REMBERT IS OUT: Senior post player Michael Rembert, who is recovering from two off season knee surgeries, will not play against Xavier. He is expected to be ready for limited play in the home opener vs. Culver-Stockton on Nov. 16. Rembert, a transfer from Bradley, averaged 9.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season.

MAXWELL HAS SURGERY: Sophomore Jajuan Maxwell had minor knee surgery on Oct. 22. It was Maxwell's second surgery since last season and increases the possibility that he will be redshirted this season.

REDHAWKS HAVE ST. LOUIS RADIO STATION: The Southeast Basketball Network includes 1380 ESPN Radio in St. Louis. The network operated by Mississippi River Radio, will be anchored by 100,000 watt K-103 FM in Cape Girardeau. Other network stations include KSIM, Sikeston;, KWOC, Poplar Bluff and KMAL, Malden. Erik Sean will be the play-by-play voice of Redhawks basketball with Todd Bonacki adding commentary at home games and Ron Hines adding color during the road games.

REDHAWKS BASKETBALL WITH Scott Edgar: Edgar will have a weekly television show on WQWQ-TV, the Heartland's CW. The show will be seen at 11 p.m. each Monday night beginning on Nov. 26 and will be hosted by Heartland Sports Director Todd Richards. The show will also be shown on Charter Cable, Channel 11 and on The Storm Team 24-hour Weather Channel at times yet to be determined.

EDGAR ON RADIO: The Scott Edgar Radio Show will be heard every Tuesday, 6 p.m., on ESPN 1220 Radio. The hour long show that will include call ins, will be hosted by Erik Sean.

SID STREAK: Southeast SID Ron Hines has worked 789 consecutive basketball games. He has not missed a game since 1980.

NEXT FOR THE REDHAWKS: The Redhawks will play at Illinois State on Wednesday, Nov. 14 in the second game of the Chicago Invitational Challenge. Tipoff will be at 7:05 p.m. The Redhawks will open the home season on Friday, Nov. 16, hosting Culver Stockton. They will host Evansville of the Missouri Valley Conference on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
