Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Three members of the Southeast Missouri State men's basketball team took time this week to read Thanksgiving stories to students at Clippard Elementary School in Cape Girardeau.

Juniors Israel Kirk and LaMont Russell along with sophomore Jajuan Maxwell read to second, third and fourth grade students on Wednesday. The players, accompanied by assistant coach Rodney Hamilton, read the Thanksgiving books that were a part of the Book of the Month program at Clippard Elementary.

"The elementary students really enjoyed having the players read to them," Hamilton said. "The guys did a good job and really enjoyed the interaction with the young students."

The Redhawks have an exhibition game against MacMurray on Saturday, 7:45 p.m. at the Show Me Center.
