Basketball Signs Raytown Standout

Nov. 10, 2005

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - JaJuan Maxwell of Raytown High School has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Southeast Missouri State University.

Maxwell, 6-6, 205, was an all-conference and all-metro selection in the Kansas City area last season when he averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game as a junior at Raytown.

"Juan Maxwell is an outstanding young man who is a relentless rebounder," said Southeast coach Gary Garner. "We are very pleased to have him sign during the early signing period. He is an excellent student who has already made his test score."

Maxwell, who was also recruited by Creighton and Wichita State, plays for coach Mark Scanlon at Raytown and will play his senior season on a team that is considered one of the better teams in the Kansas City area.

Garner said Southeast hopes to sign one more player during the early signing period.
