THE COACHES: Southeast Missouri is under the direction of new head coach Scott Edgar, an assistant at Tennessee last season, who has served as head coach at Duquesne and Murray State. He has also been an assistant at Tulsa, Arkansas and Alabama-Birmingham. His collegiate head coaching record is 109-98 in eighth season. The Highlanders are under the direction of interim head coach Vonn Webb who has a 3-3 career record. Webb replaces David Spencer who was granted a medical leave of absence.

THE SERIES: The series is tied 1-1. The Highlanders won 69-61 last season at Riverside and the Redhawks claimed An 84-83 overtime win over the Highlanders in the semi-finals of the 1989 NCAA Division II tournament in Springfield, Mass.

ABOUT UC-RIVERSIDE: The Highlanders are 3-3. They have wins over Eastern Illinois, Vanguard and Hope with losses to Iowa State, Louisiana-Monroe and San Diego State.

**REDHAWKS NOTES**

FIRST WIN COMES IN ALASKA: Southeast beat Alaska 69-66 in the final game of the Top of the World Classic. The win gives the Redhawks a record of 1-3. The Redhawks started the season with lopsided losses to Arkansas, Drake and Centenary. Southeast lost at Arkansas, 92-52, in the season opener. At the Top of the World Classic, the Redhawks lost to Drake, 78-51 and to Centenary, 83-51.

FOUST HONORED: Brandon Foust was named to the Top of the World Classic All-Tournament team. He currently leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

SHOOTING WOES: The Redhawks are shooting just .342 from the field, .267 from three and .542 from the line. The Redhawks are being out rebounded 41.8 to 33.5.

REDHAWKS 2-0 IN EXHIBITIONS: Southeast beat Westminster 88-79 and Kentucky Wesleyan 103-72 to finish the exhibition season 2-0. After the two games, six Redhawks averaged in double figures.

ONLY THREE LETTERWINNERS: The Redhawks return only three letterwinners from last year's team that was 7-20. Terrick Willoughby has been a part-time starter for three seasons. Last year he averaged 9.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Paul Paradoski has been the starting point guard the past two seasons. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.1 assists per game last season. Tyrell White was a backup player inside last season with action in 19 games. He averaged 1.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

JOHNSON IS HEALTHY: Junior guard David Johnson has fully recovered from hernia surgery that forced him to miss all but three games last season. He averaged 9.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in the three games before being lost for the remainder of the season after the surgery. Johnson averages 6.5 points and 3 rebounds per game.

TALENTED TRANSFERS: Two highly touted transfers led Southeast in the two exhibition wins. Brandon Foust, a transfer from Oklahoma, averaged 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in the two wins and he had five points in the opening season loss at Arkansas. Michael Rembert, a transfer from Bradley, averaged 12 points and five rebounds per game in exhibition play and had 12 points and four rebounds at Arkansas. Foust averages 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while Rembert averages 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

RAYTOWN DUO: Roderick Pearson and JaJuan Maxwell are both from Raytown, Mo. (a suburb of Kansas City), but played at rival high schools. Pearson, a jet quick guard, played at Raytown South while Maxwell, a versatile 6-6 player, played for Raytown High School. Pearson averages 5.0 points per game while Maxwell averages 3.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

REDHAWKS ADD ST. LOUIS RADIO STATION: The Southeast Basketball Network has added 1380 ESPN Radio in St. Louis. The network operated by Mississippi River Radio, will be anchored by 100,000 watt K-103 FM in Cape Girardeau. Other network stations include KSIM, Sikeston;, KWOC, Poplar Bluff and KMAL, Malden. Erik Sean will be the play-by-play voice of Redhawks basketball with Todd Bonacki adding commentary at home games and Ron Hines adding color during the road games.

Scott Edgar RADIO SHOW: Scott Edgar will have a weekly radio show on KGIR, 1220 AM in Cape Girardeau. He will be on from 6-7 p.m. each Monday with host Erik Sean. They will talk Redhawks basketball and take calls from listeners.

REDHAWKS BASKETBALL WITH Scott Edgar: Edgar will have a weekly television show on WQWQ-TV, the Heartland's CW. The show will be seen at 11 p.m. each Monday night and will be hosted by Heartland Sports Director Todd Richards. The show will also be shown on Charter Cable, Channel 11, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at both 8 and 9 p.m.
