Rembert Named OVC Newcomer of the Week

Dec. 18, 2006

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University junior Michael Rembert has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after scoring 20 points and pulling down five rebounds in Sunday afternoon's 70-67 loss to Jacksonville State.

"Rembert had the type of game we've been looking for," said Southeast coach Scott Edgar. "He was strong around the basket and was 7-10 from the floor. He also had five rebounds, one assist and a team-high three steals. We need Mike to play that way every time out."

Rembert, who was plagued by foul trouble in earlier games this season, is averaging 9.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. In OVC games only, Rembert averages 11 points and four rebounds per game.

The Redhawks will host Samford on Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., in a key Ohio Valley Conference game at the Show Me Center
