Coach Brinkley is in his third year as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State University. He is currently coaching wide receivers after serving as the outside linebackers coach in 2006.

Brinkley came to the Southeast program from Beaumont High School in St. Louis, Mo., where he was the head football coach and offensive coordinator from 2003-2005. Other coaching positions previously held by Brinkley at Beaumont include: defensive coordinator, head track coach and head coach for the junior varsity girls basketball program. From 1990-1994, Brinkley held various summer camp coaching positions at the University of Nebraska.

Brinkley played under coach Tom Osborne at Nebraska from 1989-1994. During his career as a Cornhusker, Brinkley appeared in two Big Eight titles. He was the Defensive Player of the Game against the Missouri Tigers in 1993. Brinkley played his high school football at Hazelwood Central High School in St. Louis, Mo., where he was selected as an all-metro star for a team that appeared in three consecutive state championship games.

Brinkley earned his bachelor's degree in Communication Arts from University of Nebraska. Coach Brinkley is married to Candace Brinkley. He has one daughter, Brandi, and one son, Lorenzo Brinkley III.
