Nick Stauffer is in his first season as the defensive assistant at Southeast Missouri State University. He joined the Redhawks coaching staff after a stellar career as a linebacker at Southeast.



During his senior season in 2008, Stauffer was named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference after setting a school record and finishing fourth nationally in the Football Championship Subdivision with 150 tackles. He averaged 12.5 tackles per game and registered at least 13 tackles in seven contests.

In an upset victory over nationally-ranked Tennessee State on Oct. 25, 2008, Stauffer set a career-high with 21 tackles (14 solo), two for loss (-2 yards) and added his first career interception that he returned 21 yards as the Redhawks defeated the No. 19 Tigers in overtime.

Over his four-year collegiate career, Stauffer registered 208 tackles (85 solo) including 15 tackles for loss (-40 yards), 3.5 sacks (-24 yards), three fumble recoveries returned 44 yards, three forced fumbles and one interception.

Stauffer was an all-district and all-area linebacker at Summit High School in Arlington, Texas.

The Mansfield, Texas native earned his bachelor's degree from Southeast in Dec. 2008.
