Holloman Leads Southeast Past Southwest Baptist

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Junior running back Timmy Holloman ripped off touchdown runs of 20, 66 and 39 yards in the second half to lead Southeast Missouri State to a 38-17 win over Southwest Baptist. Southwest Baptist had taken a 14-7 lead early in the third quarter before Holloman started his scoring with a 20-yard TD run with 6:23 remaining in the third quarter to tie the game at 14 and came back less than two minutes later with a 66-yard run to put Southeast up 20-14 and the Redhawks never trailed again. Holloman finished the night with 19 carries for 203 yards and three TD's. The Redhawks, 1-1, also got a 100-yard interception return by Eddie Calvin and a 49-yard field goal from Doug Spada as they outscored the Bearcats 31-10 in the second half. Southwest Baptist, 0-2, got a big night from freshman quarterback Steve Gachette who completed 21-48 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown. |
