JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Southeast Missouri State dropped a 38-17 decision to nationally-ranked Jacksonville State Saturday night at Paul Snow Stadium. The Gamecocks were led by LSU transfer quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns. The Southeast offense gained 371 total yards on the evening, led by junior receiver Walter Peoples with a game-high six receptions for 110 yards and a score.

Doug Spada drilled a 46-yard field goal with 11:20 remaining in the first half to get Southeast on the board.

Houston Lillard connected with Michael Williamson for a 5-yard touchdown with 12:46 remaining in the game to cap a 7-play, 60-yard drive in 2:32. For Williamson, it was his second scoring grab in the last three games and tied him for the team lead with three on the season.

It was the first touchdown pass allowed by Jacksonville State since Lillard found Miles Edwards for the game-winner in last year's season finale at Houck Stadium. The scoring strike was also the first touchdown the JSU defense had allowed in 11 quarters.

True freshman Matt Scheible threw his first career touchdown to Peoples with 3:41 left in regulation. Peoples caught the pass in the middle of the defense, cut across the field and outraced defenders down the sideline for the 49-yard score. He leads the team with 35 receptions for 450 yards. He increased his average to 75 receiving yards per game and is tied for the team lead with three touchdown catches.

Lillard finished 18-for-37 passing for 212 yards and the touchdown. Scheible was 3-for-4 through the air for 99 yards and a score in relief over the final 4:20. He ran his season totals to 1,469 yards and 10 scores through the air.

Peoples caught for passes for 79 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter alone. His 110 receiving yards and the 49-yard touchdown are new career highs.

Miles Edwards caught four passes for 33 yards. Williamson finished with three receptions for 26 yards and a score. Daryl Gist caught two balls for 52 yards, including a career-long 42-yard reception. Tight end Bradley Brown also caught two passes, accounting for 43 yards.

Timmy Holloman returned at running back and rushed for 44 yards on 16 carries. His longest run of the night went for 15 yards. He also added two receptions for 22 yards out of the backfield.

Defensively, Eddie Calvin finished with a game-high nine tackles, including eight solo stops. He also registered his team-leading fourth interception of the season when he picked off Perrilloux with 5:41 left in the second quarter.

Nick Stauffer added seven tackles on the night to run his team-lead to 63 for the season.

The Redhawks defense sacked Perrilloux three times for losses totaling 25 yards and finished with six total tackles for losses accumulating 37 yards.

Marvin Anderson recovered a fumble on the Redhawks first defensive possession of the game.

Punter Doug Spada, who came into the game ranking second in the nation, averaged 43 yards over six punts. He placed one inside the 20-yard line and had a long of 58 yards.

Joshua Jackson recovered an onside kick by Spada following the Peoples touchdown.

Southeast will be idle next week and will return to Ohio Valley Conference play at Eastern Illinois on Oct. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Charleston, Ill.
