Southeast Missouri Whips Murray State 52-21

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - True freshman Tim Holloman rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns to lead Southeast Missouri State to a 52-21 Ohio Valley Conference win over Murray State. The win was the first of the season for the Redhawks who are now 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the OVC. The win ended an eight game Southeast losing streak and a 12-game series losing streak with Murray State. The Redhawks set the tone by going 75 yards in 12 plays in their opening posession with Holloman getting the touchdown on a eight-yard run. Murray came back to tie the game at 7-7, but Southeast scored 17 second quarter points to go up 24-7 at the intermission. Southeast added three more touchdowns in the third quarter to lead 45-7 going into the final quarter. Senior quarterback Mike Haley completed 14-21 passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Murray State, 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the OVC, were led by running back Stevie Chaney who had 18 carries for 119 yards and one TD.
