Southeast Missouri Falls To Eastern Illinois, 38-9 Indians look to rebound next Saturday against Southwest Missouri

CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) - J.R. Taylor ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as Eastern Illinois beat Southeast Missouri 38-9. Andre Raymond added 146 yards and a TD for Eastern's Panthers (7-2, 5-1 Ohio Valley), ranked 21st in the latest NCAA Div. I-AA poll and still hoping for a playoff spot. Tony Romo, the top rated passer in I-AA, was 13-of-19 for 231 yards. He had scoring passes of 45-yards to Kenny Alsop and 5 yards to Frank Cutolo, who had five catches for 97 yards. The Panthers took a 17-3 lead, then outscored SE Missouri 21-0 in the second half. The Indians (3-6, 1-5) scored on Jason Witczak's 38-yard field goal and Bobby Brune's 33-yard pass to Leslie Weaver. Brune, subbing for starter Rashad West, was 13-of-18 for 167 yards. Weaver grabbed eight receptions for 95 yards. But the Indians were held to only 70 yards rushing. |
