SOUTHEAST MISSOURI FOOTBALL BEATS TENNESSEE STATE 52-35

Nov. 8, 2003

Box Score

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State stayed alive in the Ohio Valley Conference championship race with an exciting 52-35 win over Tennessee State.

Southeast Missouri is 4-2 in the OVC and needs wins in the final two games to claim the OVC title and a berth in the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

Tennessee State is also 4-2 in the OVC but would lose a tie breaker with Southeast because of the loss.

After a 10-yard scoring pass from Bryson Rosser to Ronald Jackson, Tennessee State led Southeast 35-31 with 8:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Southeast quickly regained the lead on a 62-yard pass play from Andrew Goodenough to Brandon Amick with 7:41 remaining. The Indians added two more scores on a three-yard touchdown pass from Jack Tomco to Jamel Oliver and and 60-yard interception return by Kellin White.

Oliver had a big day for Southeast with 15 carries for 186 yards and two TD's including an 82-yard run in the third quarter. He also had three catches for 38 yards and one TD.

Running back Charles Anthony had 37 carries for 157 yards and one TD for the Tigers.

Southeast had 555 yards in total offense against a Tennessee State defense that was tops in the OVC.
