Southeast Missouri Beats Tennessee State 32-24

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - It was senior day at Houck Stadium, but true freshman Tim Holloman stole the show with 99 yards rushing and two touchdowns to lead Southeast Missouri State to a 32-24 Ohio Valley Conference win over Tennessee State.

A blocked punt by Edgar Jones set up the only touchdown of the first half as Holloman scored on a one yard run with 11:20 remaining in the first quarter that gave Southeast a 6-0 lead at the break.

The Redhawks, 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the OVC, added a 26-yard field goal by Colin Schermann and a 15 yard run by Elton Peterson to take a 16-0 lead with 5:20 remaining in the third quarter. The Tigers, 2-8 overall and 1-5 in the OVC, finally got on the scoreboard late in the third quarter on a nine yard pass from Richard Hartman to Lance Blocker.

Eric Benson added a 37-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to bring TSU within five a 16-11. Southeast countered with a 32-yard pass play from Mike Haley to T.J. Milcic but the Tigers came right back with a 30pyard pass from Hartman to Chris Johnson to make the score 23-17.

Southeast gained a safety with 4:05 remaining to go up 25-17 and Holloman added a 44-yard touchdown run to put the game away.
 

 

Javier Williams added a late toucdown for the final margin. He had 28 carries on the day for 126 yards and one touchdown. Tiger quarterback Richard Hartman was 24-38 for 286 yards and two TD's. Redhawks quarterback Mike Haley was 15-29 for 186 yards and one TD.
