Defense Stands Strong in Second Football Scrimmage
April 16, 2011
By Jeff Honza CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri's defense stood strong in the team's second intrasquad scrimmage of the spring Saturday afternoon at Houck Stadium. Cory Holmes, after putting a big hit on tailback Bryant Worts, intercepted a pass and ran 57 yards for a touchdown. Courtney Brame also had a big sack to help lead the Redhawk defense. Ron Coleman broke free for runs of 21, 12 and 19 yards to lead Southeast's offense. Drew Geldbach also made three field goals of 37, 45 and 20 yards, respectively. Southeast, which held today's scrimmage as part of the school's First Annual Athletic Alumni Weekend, had some special guests. Former Redhawk standouts and current NFL players Eugene Amano (Tennessee Titans) and Dan Connolly (New England Patriots) addressed the team following the scrimmage. Southeast resumes its spring workouts Monday morning. |
