Southeast Faces Challenging Football Schedule
April 19, 2005 Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State University will play a very challenging football schedule in 2005 with five home games and six games on the road. The home schedule will be highlighted by a non-conference game against regional rival Southern Illinois, the top rated I-AA team most of last season. The match-up with the Salukis will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1. The Redhawks will also host the two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champions from Jacksonville State on Saturday, Sept. 24, 6 p.m., during Family Weekend. The other home games include a 6 p.m. game against Eastern Illinois on Oct. 8 in the annual Hall of Fame game. Homecoming will be on Oct. 29, 1 p.m., against the Murray State Racers. The final home game of the season will be on Nov. 12 when the Redhawks host Tennessee State in a 1 p.m. game. Southeast will have non-conference road contests at I-A Kent State and against regional rival Missouri State (formerly Southwest Missouri State). OVC road contests will include games at Samford, Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee-Martin and Tennessee Tech. "We're looking forward to the schedule," said Southeast coach Tim Billings. "Last year we had to play two I-A schools and this year we will have only one and that is good. It is also good to have Missouri State back on the schedule because it is a great rivalry and to play regional rival and highly touted Southern Illinois at home will be big for our fans."
