ESPNU Will Televise Tennessee Tech Game at Southeast Missouri

June 5, 2008

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (June 5, 2008) - The Southeast Missouri State football team will gain national exposure when the Redhawks host Tennessee Tech in a game that will be telecast by ESPNU. The game will be played on Thursday, Sept. 11, with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

"It will be great to get national attention for our football team," said Southeast coach Tony Samuel. "The Thursday date gives us a short turnaround after playing at Missouri on Sept. 6, but Tennessee Tech plays at Louisville on Sept. 6 and they will have to travel to Houck Stadium."

The switch to Thursday gives the Redhawks two Thursday games with the season opener scheduled for Thursday, August 28, at Houck Stadium against Southwest Baptist. On Sept. 6, the Redhawks play nationally ranked Missouri in Columbia with tickets for the game available at the Houck Ticket Office.

The Tennessee Tech game will be the OVC opener for the Redhawks who will play 12 games including six home games at Houck Stadium. Southeast and Tech did not play last season, but had a thrilling game at Houck Stadium in 2006 with the Golden Eagles coming from behind to get the win.

It will be the second straight year that Southeast has appeared on one of the ESPN network stations. Last season, the Redhawks opener at Cincinnati was televised on ESPN 360.
