Redhawks Gain Commitment from Daryl Gist for 2007 Season
July 10, 2007 By Tyler Koonce, Assistant Football Contact CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State football received a commitment from Daryl Gist (San Diego, Calif./San Diego Mesa CC), a wide receiver who will be a redshirt junior with two years of eligibility remaining. Gist, 6-5, 215, was named second team All-Foothill Conference in 2006 after making 18 receptions for 285 yards at San Diego Mesa Community College. As a freshman, he finished seventh in the conference in kickoff return yards. He graduated from Kearny High School in San Diego, Calif., where he caught 32 passes for 535 yards and four touchdowns as senior. He was also named the team's Most Improved Player in 2003. Gist is the son of Tammy Cook and Daryl Gist and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Willie Bailey. He is the cousin of NFL player, John Walker. At Southeast, he plans to major in Business. |
