FOOTBALL PRACTICE PHOTO GALLERY 8-8-07

Breakdown: The Redhawks held a morning walk-through before their annual media day at Houck Stadium. Southeast players were interviewed and photographed by media personnel. The squad held its usual afternoon practice at Rosengarten Athletic Complex.

Play of the Day: Redshirt freshman Devin Evans, a transfer and former walk-on at Missouri, made a diving interception on a screen pass from his linebacker position.

QB Competition: All four quarterbacks continue to get a considerable amount of snaps during practice. Juniors Houston Lillard and Victor Anderson saw the majority of the time with the first and second teams and continued to impress as they have throughout camp. Steve Callanan and Jared Van Slyke also displayed good arm strength and accuracy. Callanan was particularly impressive on Wednesday as he made several good throws. He hit wide receiver Richard Samuel in stride for a touchdown down the left sideline and nearly hit on a second long touchdown on the right sideline but his receiver was unable to hold on to the long pass.

In the Trenches: Members of both the offensive and defensive lines played physical in team and one-on-one situations. Nick Ketelsleger showed a lot of quickness from defensive tackle. Freshman Maurice "Ju Ju" Lyles has also been involved in a lot of action as a defensive tackle. On the offensive line, veterans Francisco Perez and Paul McGuire have been very sound while newcomers including J.T. Bashford, John Schuller and Miles Stroter have impressed. Schuller had an emphatic takedown of his defensive opponent during the one-on-one portion of practice.
