SOUTHEAST FOOTBALL TEAM ELECTS SIX CAPTAINS

Aug. 25, 2003

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The 2003 Southeast Missouri State University football team has elected six captains.

The offensive captains are quarterback Jack Tomco, center Eugene Amano and kicker Derek Kutz. The defensive captains are defensive end Ryan Roth, middle linebacker Ricky Farmer and defensive back Dimitri Patterson.

"The voting for captain was the closest I've ever seen with the largest number of players receiving votes," said head coach Tim Billings. "I think this shows that we have excellent team leadership in a lot of areas. This is also the first time I have ever had a kicker elected captain, but that just shows how much respect the players have for Derek Kutz."

Southeast Missouri opens the 2003 season on Thursday, 6 p.m. (CDT), at Ohio University.
