Simonhoff Leads The Nation In Punting

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Senior punter David Simonhoff of Southeast M|issouri State had eight punts for an average of 51.2 yards per punt on Saturday at Jacksonville State. The big day earned him OVC Specialist of the Week honors and made him the national leader in NCAA Division I-AA.

Simonhoff had five punts over 50 yards, including two over 60, with a long of 66 yards.

Going into the game, Simonhoff was second nationally, but he has now moved into first place nationally with an average of 48.29 yards per punt. Nathan Stokes of Missouri State is second nationally with an average of 45.8 yards per punt.

Southeast ranks second nationally in net punting with 41.65 yards per punt. Brown leads the nation with an aveage of 42.50.

Senior defensive end Edgar Jones ranks second nationally in sacks with two per game and is fourth nationally in tackles for losses with 2.67 per game.

The Redhawks are 2-1 on the season and will be idle next Saturday. Their next game is Saturday, Sept. 30, 6 p.m., vs. Samford.
