Two Football Players Honored As National Players of the Week

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Defensive back Kellin White and punter David Simonhoff of the Southeast Missouri State football team have been honored as National Players of the Week.

White, who had two pass interceptions for touchdowns in Southeast Missouri's 35-7 win over Tennessee-Martin, was selected as National Defensive Player of the Week in Division I-AA by Don Hansen's Football Gazette. White leads Southeast in interceptions with four and has returned three for touchdowns.

Simonhoff, who averaged 51.5 yards per punt in the win over UT-Martin, was selected as the National Specialist of the Week by I-AA.org. Simonhoff, who had punts of 82 and 71 yards vs. UT-Martin, is second nationally in punting with an average of 46.38 yards per punt.

Both White and Simonhoff were also honored as Ohio Valley Conference Players of the Week.

Southeast, 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the OVC, plays at Tennessee State on Saturday. Kickoff at the Coliseum in Nashville will be at 7 p.m. with a Tennessee State homecoming crowd of over 30,000 expected.
