Six Southeast Players named All-OVC in Football

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Six members of the Southeast Missouri State University football team have been honored as all-Ohio Valley Conference with three on the first team and three on the second team.

Senior tight end Ray Goodson, senior offensive guard Dan Bieg and sophomore punter David Simonhoff were named first team all-OVC while senior quarterback Andrew Goodenough, senior offensive tackle Dan Connolly and senior kicker Derek Kutz were named second team all-OVC.
 

 

Goodson led Southeast in receiving with 58 catches for 593 yards and one TD. He ranked third in the OVC in receptions per game with 5.27 and sixth in receiving yards per game with 53.9. Bieg, recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 team, graded out at 96% on pass blocking and 89% on run blocking with 26 knockdowns.

Simonhoff led the OVC and ranked second nationally in punting with an averageof 46 yards per punt. His single season average is a new school and OVC record. Simonhoff had five punts of over 70 yards with a long of 82.

Goodenough led the OVC in passing while completing 279-466 passes for 2,820 yards and 16 touchdowns with 15 interceptions. He ranked second nationally in completions per game with 25.4.

Connolly, who has been selected to play in the Las Vegas All-American Classic in Las Vegas on Jan. 22, graded out at 98% on pass plays and 95% on run plays with 56 knockdowns.

Kutz had two game winning field goals in overtime games and had the longest field goal in the OVC this season with a 51-yard effort against Tennessee State. For the season, Kutz was 12-17 on field goals and 26-29 on extra points.
